Meet Lance Sterling

Chef Lance Sterling – Professional & Celebrity Chef

Chef Lance Sterling's culinary journey began in Red Hook, NY, working with fresh, seasonal produce near the prestigious Culinary Institute of America (CIA). Under the mentorship of Saga Foods' Vice President—who also served as VP of the CIA—Lance honed his skills and passion for cooking.

This connection brought him to the CIA as a saucier, where he mastered sauce-making and taught students essential techniques, helping shape the next generation of culinary talent.

Lance attended the University of Arizona, majoring in Civil Engineering and minoring in Information Systems. As chef at The Wildcat House, he introduced crowd-favorite themed nights and learned a critical lesson: in the culinary world, you must know how to cook and make money.

Lance became Director of Food & Beverage for Loews Hotels, working with top chefs and gaining invaluable hospitality management experience. He then joined The Phoenician, a five-star luxury resort, where he attended sommelier classes and mastered table service, presentation, and fine dining operations.

As Resident Manager at The Phoenician, Lance oversaw diverse venues including high-end steakhouses, seafood restaurants, and a nightclub. Under VP/GM Hans Tronofsky's guidance, Lance enjoyed creative freedom, refining skills that would define his career.

Moving to California, Lance served as Food & Beverage Manager at Loews Hotel Santa Monica. An Executive Head Hunter connected him with Isaac Tigrett, founder of House of Blues. Lance eventually oversaw the expansion of 13 new House of Blues locations nationwide.

Today, Chef Lance Sterling owns and/or operates renowned venues including The Canyon Agoura Hills, The Saban Theatre, Oxnard Performing Arts Center, and The Dolby Theatre. He recently opened Sterling Steak & Lounge in Park City, UT—already named "Best Steakhouse" and "Best Restaurant."

Lance now hosts a weekly radio show on KABC in Los Angeles, sharing culinary experiences, hospitality insights, and passion for entertainment.

Blending classical training, business acumen, and creative flair, Chef Lance Sterling has become a professional and celebrity chef known for dedication to flavor, hospitality excellence, and the craft of cooking.
